This week's organization is Pet Partners, formerly known as the Delta Society. They are a non-profit focused on providing animal support to individuals including patients in recovery, people with intellectual disabilities, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, students, veterans with PTSD, and many more.
They provide a multitude of different animals to patients; the majority of their teams consist of dogs, but cats, equines, rabbits, guinea pigs, llamas and alpacas, birds, miniature pigs, and rats are also registered.
Their work aims to strengthen the human-animal bond, as stated on their website: "At Pet Partners, we believe that the human-animal bond is a mutually beneficial relationship that improves the physical, social, and emotional lives of those we serve. We are motivated by connection, compassion, and a commitment to sharing this meaningful bond with everyone who can benefit from time spent with an animal."
