Pals For Life's organization includes premier pet teams that are made up of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. Their purpose is to have pets and people help each other to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilled lives.
They are extremely dedicated to giving companion animal programs to those in need of it most. People who need love, friendship, and something warm and furry to hug are targeted with PFL's work. Their pet visitation programs are concentrated throughout the Delaware Valley and have been so since 1985.
Paula Kielich is the founded of the organization. She never owned a pet due to poor life circumstances, but was able to visit local animal shelters and nursing homes. Kielich explored the idea of starting a non-profit organization with borrowing the shelters' pets. She began borrowing shelter pets and visiting nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, mental health facilities, schools, summer camps, and colleges throughout the Delaware Valley.
The groups of pets began to expand and soon included dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and even a Mounted Police horse. Today, "Pals For Life provides over 600 visits in a typical year, with the help of over 100 volunteers and their outstanding therapy pets."
